Six months is a long time in AI

When Mira Network invited customers to a webinar about AI in April, we wanted to listen as much as we wanted to talk.

How were higher education institutions using AI? What policies and boundaries were they putting in place? And what should we expect when AI becomes part of business-critical systems such as CRM?

Six months later, the conversation has already moved on.

According to Magnus Bratt, CEO and Product Owner at Mira Network, AI has become a natural part of everyday work for many of us. The interesting question is increasingly not whether we should use AI, but what happens when AI becomes integrated into the systems and workflows we depend on.

From using AI to working with AI

Magnus believes that the best way to understand AI is to use it. That has also shaped Mira Network’s approach from the beginning.

“We said that we should ‘bathe in AI’. We needed to immerse ourselves in it, try it as much as possible and learn what it could actually be used for.”

Initially, much of that involved generative AI. Today, Magnus sees AI increasingly being used in agentic ways – helping perform more complex tasks and workflows.

He compares working with AI to being the map reader in a rally car. Things can move extremely fast. That makes direction and judgement more important, not less.

As AI becomes better at performing tasks, Magnus argues that our role shifts towards defining the outcome: What are we trying to achieve? What does a good result look like?

AI can help us get there much faster. But deciding where we want to go remains a human responsibility.

When AI becomes part of CRM

For Magnus, that distinction becomes particularly important when AI moves from standalone tools into business-critical systems.

Mira CRM supports processes within continuing professional education, alumni relations, fundraising and other forms of external relations in higher education. These processes often involve personal data and organisational knowledge.

Magnus does not see the goal as simply giving AI access to more data. Instead, he is interested in how AI can create value without unnecessarily exposing personal information.

An AI agent could, for example, help a user define the criteria for a relevant target group without seeing the individuals behind the data. Mira CRM could perform the actual query and present the result to the authorised user.

Magnus sees the same principle in software development. AI already helps Mira Network write and review code, identify potential security issues and find edge cases. But that does not remove human responsibility.

“When you have a production system supporting mission-critical operations, we as humans have to be able to take full ownership of the quality of the code.”

Six months later, the question has changed

When we invited customers into the AI conversation in April, we wanted to understand their experiences, expectations and concerns.

That dialogue remains important. But, as Magnus points out, six months is a long time in AI.

People are already using the technology. For him, the more interesting question now is how we integrate AI into the systems and processes we depend on in ways that genuinely improve them.

For Mira Network, that means exploring not simply how to add AI to Mira CRM, but what CRM can become when AI is part of it – while remaining clear about what we want to achieve, how we protect our customers’ data and what we as humans remain responsible for.

Want to explore the next step with us?

As we begin introducing more AI functionality into Mira CRM, we want to develop it together with the people who will actually use it.

We are looking for a small number of customers interested in testing early versions of new functionality, sharing feedback and helping us understand where AI can create real value in their workflows.

You don’t need to have all the answers – neither do we. We are looking for customers who are curious, willing to experiment and interested in helping shape how AI becomes part of Mira CRM.
